Dragonfly in Amber :: 100%

I am so sad to say that I didn't really enjoy this book. If I wasn't so invested in the story of Jamie and Claire, I think I would have probably set it down and not picked it up again for some time. The historical aspects overwhelmed the book. I often found myself just skimming instead of actually reading, just in hopes of getting through the chapter. The secondary and minor characters didn't hold my attention in the least and I wasn't interested in any of their stories. There might be the small exception of Fergus, I did get a little attached to that boy.

The most redeeming quality of the book, for me, was the last chapter and that alone had me wanting to continue on to the third book in the series. However, I think I am going to take a break from the Outlander series and read some library books that are due soon instead. Maybe by the time I am ready to give Jamie and Claire another shot, Voyager will be available for me from the library!

Dragonfly in Amber :: 62%

For a small while the book picked up and I was starting to get quite involved in the story once more. However, now nearly three fourths through the book, I am getting bogged down by the historical facts just a bit. I am thinking of taking a break from the Outlander series after this book and pick up another book or two that I have in my kindle from the library. I would like to get them read before they are due back and I have to wait on my holds to go through all over again. I try not to complain too much about waiting for books from the library because really, they are free books. I have Delirium, Divergent and Graceling all waiting for me and those are three YA books I have been hearing a great deal about. In fact, one of them won fiction of the year over at www.goodreads.com. This weekend has been cold and rainy here in Texas so maybe the week will be as well and it will give me a good excuse to stay inside curled up with my books! Here's to hoping!

Dragonfly in Amber :: 37%

Well, I am currently 37% through Dragonfly in Amber and it is slowly starting to pick up. I've been pretty disappointed so far because it took me so long to get into this book. After tearing through Outlander (I hated putting it down!) I was expecting the same out of Dragonfly as soon as I picked it up, sadly, it just wasn't meant to be. It was only my love for Jamie Frasier that kept me going through this book to this point. The new characters introduced haven't made me fall in love with them yet and the other new minor characters have me barely remembering their names. I am definitely missing the rowdy highland crowd from Outlander. Still, I am not even half way through yet so there is still the hope it will pick up. The last few chapters have at least been much better than the first quarter of the book. For those of you who have read the series, which was your favorite book? Keep the comments spoiler free for those of us who haven't finished the series...at least until I figure out how to keep spoilers hidden!
