Top Ten Tuesday!

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by our friends over at Broke and Bookish! They ask us to write a top ten list and that is what we do!

This weeks top ten : Top Ten books I would give a theme song to
((I am aware I only have six but this post took forever because I made it all interactive and I ran out of inspiration!))

It is no secret that I dislike Kiera, the main female lead in this book. I think she is an awful, selfish person and I wanted to punch her repeatedly in the face throughout the entire book. She had no excuses for treating the men in her life the way she did and she, as a grown woman, should have known better.  I could have picked a meaner, angrier song for her but I can see this song coming from both Denny and Kellan's perspectives.

Grown Woman : Jason Aldean
Time, wish I could turn back time
to when you were just a child
and teach you a thing or two
about love,
it's okay if you wanna give up.
But there's a way to leave someone
and you don't have to be so cruel.

Cause a grown woman, shoulda' known better
than to treat me like some old dish rag
that you use up and throw away
hey, hey, hey

You're supposed to treat your lover
as least as good as your neighbor
so how could you, a grown woman
not know no better...

Please tell me someone knew this was coming. It has to be on another list somewhere. I will go searching after I post this. If you haven't read Fifty Shades of Grey, well, here's the smallest of spoilers as to what goes on in this book. I haven't posted my review of this book yet, maybe I will do that someday. I honestly wasn't sure how I would feel about it but I ended up loving it. It's an amazing story and the character development will blow your mind. Oh, and Fifty is sexy as hell, that is nice too.

S&M : Rhianna
Feels so good being bad
There's no way I'm turning back
Now the pain is my pleasure cause nothing could measure

Love is great; love is fine
Out of the box; out of line
The affliction of the feelings leaves me wanting more

Cause I may be bad but I'm perfectly good at it
Sex in the air, I don't care
I love the smell of it
Sticks and stones may break my bones
but chains and whips excite me

Of course this book would be on my list! It is one of my absolute favorites and seems to appear on every single list I make. Lady Antebellum also happens to be one of my very favorite bands so it only makes sense that I would pair the two in my head. It just seems them to fit them so well both with their circumstances and with their relationship towards each other.

Lady Antebellum : I run to you
I run from pain
I run from prejudice
I run from pessimists
but I run to late

I run my life
or is it running me?
Run from my past
I run to fast
or to slow it seems

When lies becomes the truth,
that's when I run to you...

This world keeps spinning faster
into a new disaster
so I run to you, I run to you baby
when it all starts coming undone
baby, you're the only one I run to
I run to you

We run on fumes
Your life and mine like the sand of time
slippin' right on through
Our loves the only truth
that's why I run to you

Ah, yeah another book that is full of angst. I love angst. I think most of us can agree that the relationship portrayed in this book isn't exactly healthy. It's exciting, it's heart pounding and desperate and ugly and all sorts of other things but it isn't healthy. Maybe it gets better in the end, maybe it doesn't but these two definitely knew how to hurt each other.

Please don't leave me : Pink
I don't know if I can yell any louder.
How may times have I kicked you out of here?
Or said something insulting.
I can be so mean when I wanna be
I am capable of really anything.
I can cut you into pieces.
If my heart is broken.

Please, don't leave me.
Please, don't leave me.
I always say how I don't need you
but it's always going to come right back to this
Please, please don't leave me.

How did I become so obnoxious?
What is it with you that makes me act like this?
I've never been this nasty.
Can't you tell that this is all just a contest?
The one that wins will be the one that hits the hardest
but baby, I don't mean it.
I mean it.
I promise.

I forgot to say out loud
how beautiful you really are to me
I can't be without
you're my perfect little punching bag
and I need you
I'm sorry.

So, am going to admit something here. I read The Hunger Games in one straight shot. I didn't sleep a whole lot and I bought the kindle book that had all 3 books together so I kind of forget what happened in which book. So I am going to say that this song, to me, represents Peeta in the end of The Hunger Games and most of Catching Fire. It is kind of desperate, a little heavy, a little hopeful in spots and just is a very emotional song to me. All about realizing someone had been lying, that what they felt wasn't what you felt, that you had to let go...very intense. Makes me sad for Peeta just thinking about it!

Set Fire to the Rain : Adele
I let it fall, my heart
and as it fell, you rose to claim it
it was dark and I was over
until you kissed my lips and you saved me
My hands, they are strong
but my knees were far to weak.

To stand in your arms, without falling to your feet.
But there's a side to you that I never knew, never knew
all the things you say, they were never true, never true
And the games you played...
you would always win, always win

But I set fire to the rain
watched it pour as I touched your face
well it burned while I cried
cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name

While I laid with you, I could stay there
close my eyes,
Feel you here forever
You and me together, nothing is better
Cause there's a side to you that I never knew, never knew
all the things you say, they were never true, never true
And the games you played...
you would always win, always win

all the things you say, they were never true, never true
And the games you played...
you would always win, always win

I set fire to the rain
and I threw us into the flames
Well it felt something died
Cause I knew that was the last time, last time

Sometimes I wake up by the door.
That heart you caught must be waiting for ya.
Even now when we're already over...
I can't help myself from looking for ya.

Let it burn.

Oh, Mouth. This boy had so many issues. His character came to life. Not always in a good way but in a real way. This song has always had a gritty feel to me. Like it's a little dirty and raw and even the parts that sound like they should be happy aren't. You are just singing to get through the moment to get through until hopefully the Good Lord will take you away. You've learned all you can and now you are just living. Then it gets a bit hopeful...and then back to a little dark. You can keep dreaming and you should keep dreaming until your dreams come true, however that may come to be. It reminds me of Mouth in that way that those little glimpses of hope are all that get him through, that even though he does dream and have hopes and ambitions, they fall to the wayside because he's trying to survive the moment.

Dream on : Aerosmith
Every time that I look in the mirror
All these lines on my face gettin' clearer
The past is gone
It went by like dust to dawn
Isn't that the way

Everybody's got their dues in life to pay
 I know what nobody knows
Where it comes and where it goes
I know it's everybody's  sin
You got to lose to know how to win

Half my life is in books written pages
Live and learn from fools and from sages
You know its true
All the things come back to you

Sing with me,
sing for the years
Sing for the laughter,
sing for the tears
Sing with me, if its just for today
Maybe tomorrow the good lord will take you away (x2)

 Dream on, dream on
Dream yourself a dream come true
Dream on, dream on
Dream until your dream come true
Dream on, dream on, dream on...

  2. I like your Top Ten! We have very similar tastes in music! I especially like your choice of Adele for Catching Fire. It’s a good choice having The Girl on Fire to set fire to the rain!
